It is actually a fairly simple process. People who have a desire to Medieval, can join as members of Solara.
- It only takes five people to form a group.
- All members of the new group must be members in good standing with Solara.
- We do have a “no poaching” rule, so individuals who are members of a Barony currently need to speak with their Lord. And, if it does not hurt their current Barony, the Lord will most likely be happy to see a new group as we continue the growth of our Kingdom.
- New Baronies do have to:
- Have their own name and heraldry.
- Set up rules for how their leadership will be chosen, which can include games, combat, votes, or selection.
- Have a general persona of time period and location in history, whether they are
- Crusaders, Vikings, Pirates, Mercenaries or other historical groups
- Are based on England, Spain, or other countries, and
- Whether they are early period 400 ad – 1200 ad or late period 1300 ad to the Renaissance period.
- They should also create or at least give recognition to their people. This can be formal or informal at their pleasure.
- All this information is filed with the Lord Privy Seal.
- All Barons / Baroness, Dukes / Duchesses, Princes / Princesses, along with the King and Queen comprise the Council of Light. The Council of Light work together for the betterment of the Kingdom. Each Lord on the Council holds 1 vote to vote the will of their people (members of their group).
Baronies may treaty together to form Duchies. It takes 3 Baronies to form a Duchy. These alliances are through signed written treaties between the Lords of the Baronies. All treaties are filed with the Lord Privy Seal so that the King and Queen and the Council of Light may be made aware of the alliances. Duchies do have more responsibility than a lone Barony. Please refer to the Corpus Juris Universalis in this its wiki for more information on how a Duchy may be formed and operated.
As Duchies grow, and given their geographical areas, they may desire to create Principalities or their own Kingdom.
A Principality is governed by a Prince and Princess. It takes 5 treatied groups (minimum of 50 people) to create a Principality and may not cover lands that are already claimed by another Duchy, Principality, or Kingdom. It is intended that these be more geographical but not necessarily must be. (Example: South, East, West, etc. or specific modern states). We look at travel distance for events and other activities. It is not our intention to ever hinder growth, but we do discuss the logistics of it. Any Barony within the lands of a new Principality is not required to join that principality. So, the maps are quite fluid and overlapping may occur. Principalities have a greater scope of responsibility. Please refer to the Corpus Juris Universalis in this its wiki for more information on how a Principality may be formed and operated.
Once the Principality is well on its feet and growing, it may be that it is time to birth a new Kingdom. These will be more scrutinized for geographical logistics of travel. Where the borders are formed will be negotiated by the border groups, however. The birth of a new Kingdom is a glorious event, and we shall all rejoice when our next Kingdom comes into its own. For more information on how to form and operate a Kingdom, please refer to the Corpus Juris Universalis in the wiki.
