Steading Structure

Steading Structure within the Kingdom of Solara

  1. STEADINGS (Branches)
    1. A Steading is a recognized group of any level within the Kingdom of Solara based on the Universal Laws for Branch Structure.
    1. Steadings may be formed with a minimum of five (5) paid members.
      1. If members desire to create a Steading from an existing Steading, it may not be formed at the detriment of the larger Steading without consent of both Lords through negotiation.
    1. The Steadings land of residence is their stated city/state and a 50 miles radius around that location.
    1. Each Steading is an independent, self-governing Steading within the Kingdom as long as they do not violate Kingdom Rules, Universal Rules, or the By-Laws of The Realms.
      1. Steadings may style themselves according to the time period, place, and culture which suits their people.
      1. Fantasy / Larp, artisan, and merchant Steadings are welcome.
      1. Steadings may utilize other group name equivalents based on the structure of their Steading level consistent with medieval history.
    1. All Steadings have all rights and privileges for their Steading level.
      1. They may choose to develop rules and/or an award system for their Steading but are not required to do so except Duchy, Principality, and Kingdom.
        1. However, it is encouraged in order for the people to understand the laws of the land.
        1. No laws / rules may be created that violate the by-laws of their Kingdom, the Universal Laws, or the By-Laws of The Realms.
    1. Closed Steadings
      1. Steadings have the right to close their membership and not take more members than they wish to maintain.
    1. Steadings may remove any member who is a poor fit to their Steading for any reason or no reason at all at their sole discretion. This must be reported to the Crown and the Universal Council.
  2. MEMBERS may enjoin themselves to any Steading regardless of their geographical location.
  3. SOCIAL MEDIA: Steadings may choose to have a social media site for their members for listing events, information dissemination, and recruiting purposes (Facebook is preferred. See Social Media rules.)
  4. EVENTS: We encourage Steadings to host gatherings and get-togethers for the enjoyment of their people.
    1. Official events must be submitted to the official Kingdom calendar with all pertinent information, a published event page, and the date and location of the event.
      1. Events not listed on the calendar are not covered by The Realms insurance policy (i.e. fight practices, backyard BBQs, or other informal gatherings.)
    1. Steadings must submit a post event report following their official event. Reports do not need to be filed for non-official events.
    1. Steadings may host events together for large event venues.
    1. See the Book of the Treasury for matters regarding event fees and other monetary matters.
  5. HERALDRY
    1. Steadings must have a formal name and heraldry.
      1. Heraldry must be a minimum of 3 points difference from any other heraldry within the Kingdom (or real-world heraldry).
      1. Heraldry for each Steading is displayed on the Solara website.
      1. We encourage all households and Steadings to proudly wear, on their person and/or display their heraldry on and off the field.

Treaties Between Steadings, War, and Raids

  1. Treaties
    1. Steadings may treaty one with another to form a higher-level group.
    1. Steadings that border each other may form Principalities and Kingdoms.
    1. Steadings may not overlap with another Steading’s landed territories nor claim land within the lands of another Steading.
    1. All treaties must be in writing and a copy filed with the Lord Privy Seal.
    1. There is no limit on the number of Landed Estates who may treaty together within any Principality or Kingdom.
    1. Treaties of friendship and hospitality or treaties for a call of banners may be formed across the realms but do not subjugate a Steading.
    1. Special dispensation may be given by the Crown(s) for groups joining the Kingdom regardless of the location of their landed estates.
  2. Unclaimed Lands
    1. Steadings may elect to war for unclaimed lands in which no Steading resides or has claim to the lands.
    1. Steading members may reside in another Steading’s landed territory; however, this does not constitute an overlap.
    1. It is encouraged, but not required, that this war be held in the disputed lands for the purpose of recruiting.
  3. War and Raids
    1. Steadings may raid or war with other Steadings as agreed upon by the Lords for the enjoyment of the Fire Borne.
    1. These events may be tournaments or melees for the betterment of our standing army.
    1. It is for bragging rights and training and is encouraged to keep our fighters in top shape and unified as the Warriors of the Sun.
    1. Steadings may risk relics, chattel, or other such prizes to enhance the event.

Steadings may not overtake or conquer other Steadings nor subjugate any citizen of another Steading.
