- Marshals are experienced persons who have authority in all marshal related activities.
- All combatants must heed the commands of the Marshal(s) at all times including holds and leaving the field.
- Holds are to be adhered to immediately.
- Strikes after a hold is called are not counted.
- Egregious strikes after a hold is called may result in the combatant being removed from the field.
- A fighter may call a hold for armor or weapon malfunction for safety reasons. Fighters must only call a hold for the aforementioned reasons. Calling a hold to gain or regain an advantage against an opponent may result in a forfeit or a removal from the field.
- The Crown, the Earl Marshals, all knights (Hellbenders), Order of the Quasar (Knight Marshals), Elder Fighters (those who have more than five (5) years’ experience on the field), Marshals of the field / list, and a Lord of any Branch may:
Note: The term “Field” includes melee fields, lists, and pitches and all marshal arenas in which combat is engaged.
- Give any participant a warning to correct a matter such as repairing a weapon or armor, or behavior on or around the field. All warnings are to be followed, and the matter corrected. If given a warning, the combatant is honor bound to not repeat the action that was called into question.
- Bar any weapon or armor from the field.
- Remove any weapon from the field if they deem in their sole discretion the weapon is broken, unsafe, does not meet weapon requirements for safety, or is not called for that specific fight (i.e. if archers are not allowed in that particular fight).
- Before entering the field, if a combatant’s equipment is found to be unsafe, the Marshal has all authority to prevent them from taking the field.
- Remove any combatant from the field if they are found to be a danger to others through not following the rules of combat or any, misuse of their weapon, not adhering to a hold, or other safety issues, including:
- If the combatant is exhibiting unsafe behavior at the field prior to entering the field in violation of the rules.
- Flagrant violation of fighting protocols including excessive strikes (includes, but not limited to, striking opponent after “death” and shots from behind to the back, neck, or head), strikes to “no-strike” body zones (i.e., boffer – head shots), or repeated refusal to follow a Marshal’s instructions / directions.
- The Marshal may sit the person out for the round / the battle, the day (all martial activities in that style), or the event.
- Matters of repeated violations of safety standards or disrespect to the Marshalate will be reported to the Crown who shall make a determination as They see fit.
- If a combatant is found to be malicious in attempting to cause true harm to another combatant, they will be removed from the field/list and further sanctions may be applied up to and including banishment from the Realms of Solara.
- In a tournament, a Marshal may count a loss to any combatant who engages in grossly unsafe behavior or egregiously injures their opponent. Injuries in which the injured party was engaged in unsafe behavior will not be considered an egregious injury.
- Marshals also have the right to reset a fight or require combatants to fight again for “rhino-hiding” in their sole discretion.
- The Marshal has sole determination in advancing any combatant to the next round.
- TRIAD APPEAL
- Combatants may request a Triad Appeal to appeal the decision of barring a weapon or armor, or a removal from the field/list.
- Three elder fighters who are not the individual who originally removed them or barred a weapon/armor will be selected.
- The members chosen for the Triad should be those who witnessed the action or equipment failure that caused the removal if possible.
- They will discuss the matter with the individual who barred the weapon, armor, or declared for removal and the person making the appeal.
- The Combatant may also request their Branch Lord be present.
The Triad’s decision will be final.
